The Northern College for residential adult education, is dedicated to the education and training of men and women who are without formal qualifications and are seeking to return to learning.

The College’s traditionally strong links with local authorities, community groups, voluntary organisations, trade unions and private sector companies enables it to contribute to the social and economic regeneration through education and training in the community and in the workplace.

The College delivers an innovative mix of full and part-time programmes of study which offer accredited pathways starting from basic literacy and numeracy through to higher education.

Men and women of all ages from 19 upwards, often with families and dependents, some single parents accompanied by young or school-age children.  For these, the College’s Children’s Centre provides a vital, free day-care and after school service, which enables student to study, while their children learn in a safe, happy environment.
