Melanie’s Cakes was first established in 1998 after Melanie Leonard quit her day job as a secretary to indulge full-time in her passion of making cakes.

Over the past ten years Melanie’s business has expanded significantly and now offers an endless choice of delicious cakes for all occasions and a wide selection of handmade Belgium chocolates.

As news of Melanie’s mouth-watering cakes has spread, the talented baker has been asked to compete in national and regional competitions, including the Great British Village Show, which she won the regional heats of in 2006. Melanie was even asked to make a cake for a wedding on ITV drama Fat Friends in 2005.

Five years ago Melanie’s partner Jim Wroe followed suit by leaving his job as a miner at Selby pit to become a real life Willy Wonka, handling the chocolate side of the business.

In addition, Melanie’s Cakes can also provide chocolate fountains, cascading with a choice of their Belgium chocolate in plain, milk, white or even pink.
